YUDUYU is based on Waiheke Island, just a short ferry from Auckland, but it feels like another world. Life here is slower, more connected and grounded in nature, with beaches, vineyards and a strong sense of community. The salon moves with the seasons. Summer is busy, social and high energy. Winter is quieter, allowing space to refine your craft, build client relationships and reset.

Yasmin

With 17 years in the industry, Yas brings a depth of experience shaped by an international career, from her beginnings in Waihi to fashion and industry shows in Melbourne, barbering in Bristol, and events in London, before settling on Waiheke Island. She is known for creating hair that looks considered on the day and grows out with ease. Yas specialises in fine hair, colour corrections, lived-in colour, and precision cuts designed for longevity. Her work is detail-focused, built on small, intentional adjustments that make hair feel natural, wearable, and easy to maintain. Her strength lies in understanding what a client is looking for and translating that into a result that feels aligned. Consultations are clear and honest, centred on what is achievable, what she recommends, and how to create a look that suits your hair, lifestyle, and long-term goals. Calm, efficient, and grounded behind the chair, Yas has created YUDUYU as a space that feels relaxed and welcoming. Somewhere you can switch off, feel at ease, and be genuinely looked after. Senior Stylist

Maddie

Originally from Scotland, Maddie began her hairdressing journey after moving to New Zealand at a young age. Starting her apprenticeship at 16, she developed a strong sense of independence, resilience, and an ability to connect with people from all walks of life. With 13 years in the industry, hairdressing has become more than a career. It is her way of helping people feel confident, comfortable, and like the best version of themselves. Maddie specialises in colour and styling, with a focus on soft, seamless blondes, lived-in colour, and tones that grow out beautifully with minimal maintenance. She also has a natural talent for occasion styling, creating everything from polished waves to effortless, textured updos. Her work is thoughtful and detail-led, with a strong focus on hair health and long-term wearability. Consultations are thorough and collaborative, using clear communication and visual references to ensure everything feels aligned. Known for her calm presence and attentive approach, Maddie creates a space where clients feel relaxed, listened to, and well cared for. Outside of the salon, she values balance, spending time with her partner and pets, keeping active, and unwinding with a good book. Her goal is simple, for every client to leave feeling refreshed, confident, and completely at ease in their hair.

Apprentice

Bella

Bella brings a calm, grounded presence to YUDUYU, along with a creative eye and a genuine care for both clients and the wider team. As an apprentice, she plays an important role in the flow of the salon, supporting across the floor and behind the scenes with consistency, attention to detail, and a thoughtful approach. She is naturally drawn to styling and wedding hair, with a particular strength in hot tool work and soft, effortless finishing. Clients often notice the small details she brings to each appointment, from relaxing head massages to the way she checks in and creates a comfortable, easy experience. Bella also contributes to the creative direction of YUDUYU, capturing product imagery and shaping the salon’s social presence in a way that feels natural, refined, and true to the space. She approaches her work with curiosity and openness, continuing to build her skills across blow waves, cutting, and colour, while supporting the consultation process with a focus on hair health and achievable outcomes. Outside of the salon, you will usually find her by the ocean, walking her two staffies, or cooking something nourishing at home. Bella brings a steady, nurturing energy to the team, supporting everything around her in a quiet but meaningful way, and adding depth to the overall YUDUYU experience.
